Former Silver Fern Anna Galvan has been elected to the Netball New Zealand Board at the organisation's 2026 Annual General Meeting.
Anna brings a combination of elite sporting experience and senior executive leadership to the role. A former Silver Fern and Commonwealth Games medallist with 17 years of elite sport experience, Anna has been involved in netball for more than 40 years as a player, coach, administrator and governor.
"Netball is in my DNA," Anna said. "It has shaped who I am as a leader and as a person. It has given me lifelong friendships, purpose and opportunity."
“I want our sport to thrive, not only for my daughters, but for my daughters-daughthers, and the children who want to play netball in future generations.”
Anna brings strong governance credentials to the role. She has chaired the Christchurch Netball Centre, served as a Board Director at the Netball Sports Centre where she helped lead the completion of a world-class $16.5 million facility, and currently serves on both the Tactix Management Committee and the NNZ Life Membership Committee.
Outside of sport she has worked in leadership roles in the public, private and charity sectors.
Anna is a New Zealand Institute of Directors member, a Sport New Zealand Future Leader, and completed the New Zealand Olympic Committee’s Wāhine Toa leadership course in 2024.
